Medea: Differences between Women and Men


The play “Medea” illustrates the differences and struggles between the genders. Discuss some differences between men and women and use one quote from the play to support your viewpoint.

  1. Men generally like to think of themselves as the smarter sex and they usually have trouble dealing with a clever woman.
    "A sharp-tempered woman is easier to deal with than a clever one." This was true 2500 years ago and it's still true today.

  2. Cody of the 9:30 m&w class- Men have more value and percieved their women as property to be owned. Women could not vote and were viewed to be without logical thought and that they have a scorn that's deadly this is expressed in the line of creon " I'm afraid of you- why should I lie?- afraid that you may injure my daughter. you're a clever woman versed in evil arts. And you're angry at having lost your husband's love.
