Explain the differences in creating a story for Film vs. the Stage. What are the limitations for stage? What are the advantages for both? And why would a playwright choose to write a play for the stage vs. for a film ?
There have been many different forms of entertainment throughout the ages. Two of the most well known are theatre and film. While they can be quite similar in the initial stages are quite different in the final production. Some of these differences include everything from cost of production, locations used, to the limits of a theatre and the almost limitless possibilities that can be done with film in today’s technological world. Theatre can create a much more real experience for an audience and film can embellish the story to create the “reality” the author wants to convey. Writers might choose either film or theatre as the medium to tell their story based on how they want the message to be interpreted.
